It’s Like a Time Machine

Sometime around 10 years ago I started using Blogger. At the time there wasn’t much to be said for blogs. There were a few here and there, but nothing to blog home about. I don’t even think I had heard of Google at that time. But I had an audience of 2 or 3. And it was nice. I didn’t have to worry about what I wrote and who would read it (I knew it was a small group of close friends).

Over the last 10 years I’ve gone back and re-read a few my posts from time to time. Attempted to regain control of the site (to no avail). But, in the last few days I’ve gone through and read everything I wrote from 10/2000 to 10/2001. Tonight I read some of them to Heidi. It was exciting and encouraging to see what God has done in my life since then. I was your average angsty kid who placed too much time, money and energy on girls and music. But, I wrote a lot, and, I’ve got to say, some of it wasn’t too bad.

For the next month or so Heidi and I have sworn off TV in hopes of being able to do things we’re interested in, such as reading, writing, art projects and photography. I’m happy to have started that time by recalling the past and knowing that somewhere inside of me is someone that wants to write, just needs a little encouraging. I only pray that what I have to say now reflects more of God than it does of me.
