draw a square. make the bottom line extend out beyond the corners. make the right hand line extend up only. about one third the way up the left hand line, on the inside, make a dot. that is a map of my block. the dot is me. you are here. mind you, this is no city block, it is a over sized suburban square.

it was about 1:30, i had just not kissed melody good night and crawled into my bed when, through the window i keep open because of the heat i heard a loud screech, then a huge crash. oops. a car hit something. not ten seconds went by and i heard a cop siren blare. so i threw on some clothes and went to investigate. (this is where the map comes in). i walked down my street to look around at the end of the block. nothing. i walked up and then over to roots road, which is the “up only” line, it is also a hill that i am at the bottom of. as i walk closer to roots, i see one cop car drive slowly by with lights, then one without. both going down. i get to the end and look towards where the cops went. just lots of flashing. so i decided to walk back to the first vantage point to see if i can see it now, mostly because i had seen an ambulance and a fire truck pass that way on the walk down the block.

what seems to have happened, with only a few minutes watch from a distance of a block, is a car went out of control, ran the stop sign at the T and into the house that sits opposite the T. my brain tells me that it wasn’t a drunk, no, but it was someone that passed out, or had an attack of some sort, and was unconscious so they couldn’t stop. maybe it’ll be in the papers.
