today was not a good day. i will tell you why. one, i cut my hand on glass. not a big deal until i did it again ten minutes later. now all of this happened right before closing, so i didn’t have to make any bloody lattes or anything. but this is the adam luck. i work with a group of people that are, well, to put it bluntly, a nothing but a bundle of raging hormones. aaron is a morning worker, but he was filling in for karen who wanted to spend time with her husband. so aaron knows people that i don’t, and it works both ways. tonight a girl that i used to see all the time when i worked mornings came in, and aaron struck up a conversation, mostly about her music or something, i didn’t listen too well. she gets her drink then proceeds to browse the bookstore adjacent to us. amber comes back from her break (amber being the biggest hormone ball) and it’s my turn. so to the music books i go, on the way i bump into the music girl and start talking. i ask her what kind of music she writes/sings/plays and she tells me “mostly folk” so we get to talking about the local rock scene and i mention some bands that she should listen to. we talk about God and “christian music” and all that stuff, both of us agree that, for the most part, christian music sucks, but there are some rare gems out there. i tell her of some that i know off the top of my head and “you have to listen to them, so i’ll bring a cd in next time i work so you can borrow it.” at this point all is well, because she gets excited and says “when do you work next?” “tuesday” “okay, i’ll see you tuesday” and back to work i go. talking with aaron again, he informs me that she has a child. i can deal with that, but it gets worse, the guy that got her pregnant, she married, good right? well, not if they don’t really like each other, and can’t handle the relationship. this is the point where adam’s night got horrible. the realization that i need to run kicked in, and the running event will too. there are three types of girls in my life right now. type a) married; type b) gay; type c) wish they never met me.
adam.
