sleep deprivation explained

the reason i am still awake two hours after i crawl in bed is not just one thing. my mind is thinking of the two huge bills i have, one to the state for going faster than they want me to in my car, the second is to the company that will pay for the damages if i get in an accident. i am also thinking of today’s wedding. where one of my closest friend is right now. what made us such good friends. the last is consuming my thoughts even when i’m not trying to sleep. her name is jen. and this is the whole thing. wednesday at the squad 5-O and juliana theory show i met her by hitting her in the arm lightly. after apologizing and making a joke, she smacked me in the chest telling me she understood. i laughed. so throughout the show we talked. i found out where she was from and what she like in music. she had to leave early, but she gave me her phone number to call her about other shows. so the next day, after co-workers said i should wait a few more days, i called her and left a message on her voice mail. after i hung up i gave up and figured i’d not hear from her until i ran in to her at a show a few weeks down the road, at which point she’d make an excuse as to why she didn’t call me, i’d smile politely and we’d avoid each other the rest of the night. but a few hours later the phone rang and on the other end was her voice. so i told her about the shows and listened to her stories for about ten minutes, which is a long time when you’re getting paid for working. friday, tickets for a really good show went on sale, and the place of sale just happens to be across the parking lot from where i work, so during my break i run over to pick up some for my friends, co-worker, and me. then i think “hey, here’s another good excuse to call jen.” i call her and the voice mail comes on again. short message about tickets. a few hours, again, she calls. i ask if she wants me to buy her some but she said that she was going to come out and get them herself. i got off work at three and that’s when she showed up. we hung out, walked around the cd shop, spent money we shouldn’t have and had a great time. she had to work, i had to go to a wedding. after the wedding i call again. voice mail. message left. no return this time. a few hours later, while making her a tape, i give her a call and talk shortly. i don’t know where this is leading, but it seems good to me.
