Monday

Evelyn and TBD

My daughter is 19 months old. What that means to those who know about as much as to the reason why age is kept in months for a little while as I did before I had a daughter is this; she can walk, has a few words, knows how to follow directions (like, put the wallet on the table), and can sing.

Every once in a while she'll let me put her to bed. When I do, we'll sit in a rocking chair, and I'll sing her some Damien Jurado songs. Well, actually I'll only sing her Yuma, AZ. She seems to like it, so, along with her and my wife, I've got two people who like my voice. The only other song that I think is a good bedtime song is Half Way Down the Stairs, sung by Kermit's little nephew Robin. I'm not sure why Yuma, AZ seems to be her favorite, but it is.

Growing up, I remember listening to the Muppet Show album that my parents had, which is where I got the song from Robin. I remember hearing that song, at a very young age, and thinking that it was perfect for me to sing to my kids.

Right now we have Eve. But in less than a weeks time (or so Doctor tells us) we'll have our second little girl. Of course you know the name, or else you wouldn't be reading this, so I won't insult your intelligence by telling you.

Sunday

New Schedule

I need to start carrying a notepad with me because I think of themes, ideas, or topics.

As I was sitting in church tonight listening to the sermon, I kept getting distracted with different things I could and want to write about. But, now that I'm here, I am drawing a blank. I've spent the last few hours just playing with different gadgets that I can download for my google desktop search and getting nowhere with ideas for writing.

I think what I need is an assignment or something like that. Maybe I'll come up with one for myself.

Hopefully a new Sunday tradition

Today my wife and I had the day to ourselves, our daughter Evelyn went to see Grandma and Grandpa with her Aunt Stephanie. So Heidi and I just lounged around, waking up late (which means 9am for her 11am for me) and talked. We sat down for a few minutes and read some Vintage Saints (Pilgrims and C.H. Spurgeon) then sat down to watch last Sunday's sermon from our church entitled "What will Jesus do on His Return?" which we missed last week. It was nice, sitting in the comfort of our home, listening to God's word being taught. I hope that we can continue this tradition of taking a Sunday and really relaxing. As the time goes on, we can add new things to read, new preachers to listen to, and spend time in the Bible with our children.
